It’s time to make Carrot Powder!

  1. Peel the carrots with a knife or peeler.
  2. Use a spiralizer or knife to get carrot strips.
  3. Spread the strips on a lined tray.
  4. Then, cover the tray with a food net cover. 
  5. Dry it under the sun or in a dehydrator.
  6. Transfer the dried carrots to a blender or food processor.
  7. Blend until powdery.
  8. Filter the carrot powder with a sieve.
  9. Finally, transfer contents into a container and store them!

Slicing carrots

If you don’t have a spiralizer or a grater, then you can use a knife to slice the carrots into strips. Alternatively, slice it with a peeler for even strips. 

Dehydrating Carrots

Instead of sun drying the carrots, there are other methods you can try. 

Dehydrator
  1. Peel and slice the carrots.
  2. Arrange the carrot slices on the tray.
  3. Then, set the dehydrator to 52°C.
  4. Let them dry for several hours, depending on the number of carrots. 
Oven
  1. Arrange the carrots slices on a lined baking tray.
  2. Set the oven to the lowest setting.
  3. Then, bake it with the oven door slightly ajar.
  4. Wait for several hours to dry.
Microwave
  1. Line a microwave-safe plate with wax paper and lightly grease it with oil.
  2. Put the slices on the plate and cook them on medium heat for ten minutes.
  3. Then, turn them over and cook for another ten minutes.
  4. Dehydrate them for another 15 minutes on a low setting.

Dehydrated carrot strips can also be vacuum-sealed into resealable bags or containers. 

Carrot Powder Variations

Use any variety of carrots to make the condiment but remember that they must be fresh and properly stored. You can mix it with chili flakes or other powdered seasonings for a diverse flavor. 

The dried carrot strips can be used on their own. Otherwise, convert the carrots into a paste by boiling them and pureeing them with a masher or a blender. 

Carrots can also be turned into oil by combining the carrot powder with coconut oil in a container.
