Founded in 1953, the award is held annually by the Hannover Industrial Design Forum (iF Industrie Forum Design), the oldest industrial design institution in Germany, and is known for its "independent, rigorous and reliable" award concept. For a long time, iF has been recognized as one of the most important awards in the global design competition, with the German RedDot (RedDot Design Award), the United States IDEA (Industrial Design Excellence Award), called the world's three major design awards. The design was inspired by a common pain point in daily laundry: clothes can't dry well. The research and development team found that wet clothes were dried with ordinary hangers, and the two pieces of clothing were always attached together, which was not easy to dry. Starting to wonder if the clothes would dry faster if they were stretched out, the team worked together repeatedly to implement the proof-of-principle feature.

At the beginning of the design, the team wanted to overlay more features, but found that in the case of increased features, it could not highlight the use pain points that the core wanted to solve. In the end, it returned to the function point of open drying, combining the space saving of hanging and the rounded shoulders without bulging as the final solution.
