How to protect overhead cables?

Traditional high-voltage power transmission methods mostly use high-voltage overhead lines or high-voltage cable lines as transmission channels. Overhead cables are a new high-voltage transmission method between overhead wires and underground cables. So how should we protect overhead cables?

Prevention methods for overhead cable faults:

1. Calculate the short-circuit current, correctly select and calibrate electrical equipment, so that the rated voltage of the electrical equipment matches the rated voltage of the line.

2. Correctly select the setting value of the relay protection and the rated current of the fuse, and use a quick-break protection device so that the short-circuit current can be quickly cut off when a short circuit occurs, shorten the duration of the short-circuit current, and reduce the loss caused by the short circuit.

3. Install lightning rods in substations and lightning arresters near transformers and on lines to reduce lightning damage.

4. Use reactors to increase system impedance and limit short-circuit current.

5. Remove faulty lines or equipment from the power system so that the rest of the system can continue to operate.

6. After the line construction is completed, remove the grounding wire immediately. Circuits and equipment should be checked frequently to detect defects in time and repair them quickly.

7. Ensure the construction quality of overhead cable lines, strengthen line maintenance, and always keep the line verticality consistent and in compliance with regulations.

8. When installing and maintaining electrical equipment under power, prevent misconnection and misoperation. When working close to live parts, take measures to prevent short circuits.

9. Strengthen management to prevent small animals from entering the distribution room and climbing electrical equipment. Remove conductive dust in time to prevent it from entering electrical equipment.
