Even gloves claiming to be sterile aren’t. Most have a spec on how many CFU they allow, and it’s not zero. We were running an experiment on sterilizing a component, and our CFU/ unit spec was lower than the glove spec. We had to switch to having the crew use Individually sterilized forceps (tweezers) to hand the components, as they could take higher sterilization methods than the gloves.

And even surgery rooms are “less sterile” than rooms used to manufacture some drugs, or make components for medical procedures.
