These DIY sticker books are super fun for kids to make and enjoy.  The wax paper allows them to remove the stickers easily so they can play with them over and over again.

Growing up, I used to LOVE to collect stickers.  I had photo album after photo album where I kept all of my beautiful stickers sealed carefully behind the protective cellophane.

Now a-days, kids don’t seem to really memorialize stickers so much.  They like to really get in there, play with them, move them around, and just have fun with them.  Which is great, but…

Our sticker situation had grown out of control. Stickers were turning up everywhere.  Walls, floors, furniture, etc.   We needed a solution keep them all in one place, yet still allow for removability.

And then one day it hit me….Wax Paper.  Wax paper would allow for removability and still keep them in one place.  Perfect!

BONUS BENEFIT OF WAX PAPER:  You can use these for Reward Systems and if the child does something bad, you can easily take away a sticker because it’s on wax paper.

Editors Update 2021:

This post was originally written in 2016, and we STILL love to make wax paper sticker books.

I love to incorporate Sticker Books into all aspects of our daily lives–from Reward Systems to encouraging Random Acts of Kindness between Siblings.  Check out my latest Wax Paper Sticker Book article here.

How to make easy DIY sticker books for reusable stickers…that look fabulous!

This is an easy craft that the kids can help out with.  In fact, we made ours when we had a friend over.  She was super excited to join in the crafty fun.

Supplies:

  • 12X12 Scrapbook paper
  • Wax paper
  • Paper cutter or scissors
  • Stapler
  • Clothes pin or paper clip

Steps to Make your Sticker Book

Step 1:  Make the Cover.

Choose a pretty piece of scrapbook paper and cut it in half so that it’s 6 X 12.

Then fold it in half.  This will be your cover.

Step 2:  Make the inside wax paper pages

Using your cover as a template, line the wax paper up with the cover, then make a crease to denote the edge of the page.

Like this:

Then wrap the wax paper around and around until you have as many pages as you need.   Crease the edges so they’ll be easy to cut.

Step 3:  Cut the pages

When you have enough pages, you’re ready to cut the wax paper into individual pages.  First, make a cut to separate the wax paper from the roll.

Next, if you had wrapped the wax paper around the scrapbook paper, make sure the edges are creased.  (Remember, the creases will be used as your guide. They mark the pages). Carefully, pull out the scrapbook paper.

Now you can unfold it, and just cut along the creased lines.

Step 4: Bind the Book

I found the wax paper was pretty slippery and kept moving around as I was trying to line up the pages. So I ended up using a cute little clip to keep them together while I tried to staple them.

Once I had them lined up nicely, I stapled them together.

You might need to trim some edges if any of the wax paper sticks out beyond the cover.

Step 5:  Fill in those sticker books and decorate the covers

Now for the fun part, filling in the sticker books.  You can use any stickers.  Regular stickers, removable stickers, even reward stickers.

My girls started putting their bonus reward stickers (rewards for good deeds beyond their chores) in these books.  They love comparing who has more.
