China's photovoltaic (PV) capacity saw impressive growth in the first quarter of 2025, according to the National Energy Administration.

In total, 59.71 gigawatts (GW) of new PV capacity were installed, bringing the country's total installed capacity to 94.544 GW by the end of March. This included 23.41 GW of new centralized PV capacity, 36.31 GW of new distributed PV capacity, and 5.05 GW of new household PV capacity.

Among the provinces, Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Yunnan led the way, each adding more than 5 GW of new capacity in Q1. Guangdong was the top performer in distributed PV, with 4.95 GW of new installations, followed by Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, each surpassing 3 GW. In the centralized PV sector, Yunnan and Xinjiang took the lead, adding 4.8 GW and 3.2 GW, respectively.
