In early 2020, mask making was not on the general public’s project list. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, making masks for everyday use has now become a necessity for many. Our shoe lace spools are perfect for creating masks quickly and efficiently so straps don’t have to be sewn from fabric. This can cut the mask making time in half.
In mask making, our lace material can be used with all different patterns - everything from ear loops to multiple types of ties around the back of the head. Our shoelaces provide a comfortable material that is less likely to chafe on the ears than many other types of string material, and its durability will allow the masks to stay upright on the face without stretching out or breaking.
Typically, each mask will require four separate 18-inch pieces of shoelace (this may vary depending on head size). Two are attached to the top of the mask fabric and two on the bottom. The top pieces and bottom pieces are tied together around the back of the head, resulting in a secure mask. Using these average measurements, each 144 yard spool can create approximately 72 masks!
